Blood donation camp

NEW DELHI JULY 5. The local head office of the State Bank of India organised a blood donation camp in association with the Indian Red Cross Society this past week at Sansad Marg. About a hundred people donated blood at the camp which was organised as part of its Bank Day celebrations. The General Manager (Commercial) of the bank's Delhi Circle, Pratip Choudhuri, inaugurated the camp.

Free health check-up

NEW DELHI JULY 5 . A non- government organisation, MISSION (Multiple Ideas For Social Service In Our Nation), organised a free health check-up camp at Wazirabad village on Monday. The function was inaugurated by the local MLA, Surinder Pal Singh, who was also the chief guest on the occasion. Facilities for check-up of blood pressure, sugar, asthma, pregnancy and ortho-related problems were provided to the villagers. About 190 people benefited from the camp. About 400 children were administered polio drops.

Tips to prevent paralysis

NEW DELHI JULY 5. The president of the Heart Care Foundation of India (HCFI), K.K. Aggarwal, said that a study of more than 71,000 nurses has shown that a right diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fish, legumes and grains could prevent paralysis in the general public.

Speaking at a seminar on Sunday, Dr. Aggarwal said: "A diet high in animal fat, especially red meat and low in fibre, fruits and vegetables have been linked to the risk of stroke." He also said that proper lifestyle management could reduce drug intake by 30 per cent. Regarding water therapy, Dr. Agarwal said on an average one should consume liquid equivalent to 30 ml per kg body weigh. He warned that water therapy could prove dangerous if not medically supervised, especially in the elderly.

The HCFI is observing the coming week for the care of women and child and special arrangements are being made for free counselling for women heart patients at the HCFI office in Defence Colony.

New colour servers for press

NEW DELHI JULY 5. Opening up more workflow options for customers in commercial print, quick print and in-plant colour printing environments, Xerox Corporation and EFI today announced two new colour servers specifically designed for Xerox digital colour presses. The announcement was made at EFI's Connect 2004 Users Conference.

"The new servers expand the range of front-end systems available to customers, enabling them to easily integrate these presses into their existing workflow," announced a spokesperson.
