MP seeks water release to Krishna delta

HYDERABAD, JULY 5. The Congress MP of Bapatla, D. Purandeswari, has appealed to the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to release water to Krishna delta from Nagarjunasagar this week.

She recalled in a letter to Dr. Reddy that the previous TDP Government had released water to the delta in September last year, which delayed sowings and consequently the harvest. A cyclone hit the region just when the farmers were to reap the harvest.

In a separate letter to Dr. Reddy, Purandeswari requested him to increase the allocation for Pulichintala project this year from Rs. 35 to 200 crore.
