Manohar brought to Hyderabad

By Our Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA, JUNE 5. Y. Manohar, the accused in the murder of MCA student, Sri Lakshmi, was on Monday afternoon taken to Hyderabad for a lie detection test at the Forensic Science Laboratory. However, since the police party led by the Circle Inspector North, D.V.Nageswara Rao, left the city late in the afternoon, the test would be conducted only Tuesday. The findings are expected to be out in a week, investigating officials said here on Monday.

Earlier in the day, amidst tight security, Manohar was taken in a police van from the district jail at Gandhinagar for Hyderabad. Apprehending trouble from some organisations, police made heavy security arrangements for the accused outside the court. His location in Hyderabad had also been kept a closely-guarded secret, as there are apprehensions that some organisations were planning to assault him, an official said.

It might be mentioned that after his surrender at Egmore, several organisations made attempts to attack him while he was being brought to the city.

The Third Metropolitan Magistrate, Ram Gopal, had on July 3 remanded Manohar to police custody till Wednesday. The remand was conceded by the court following a request from the police for subjecting him to lie detection test.
