NEW DELHI, JULY 6. The National Democratic Alliance is likely to end tomorrow its tactics of disrupting Parliament, but today its MPs boycotted Parliament, including the presentation of the Railway Budget by Lalu Prasad to protest against the inclusion of "tainted'' Ministers in the Manmohan Singh Government. "This form of protest will end today, but there will be different forms of protest from tomorrow. ... it was felt that Parliament's proceedings should be allowed and important issues should be discussed ... '' the Leader of the Opposition, L.K. Advani, told reporters later at a press conference. At a meeting of the NDA MPs this morning, the basic decision was to boycott the proceedings today and leave the decision on the future course of action to a five-member sub-committee comprising Sushma Swaraj, V.K. Malhotra, S.S. Ahluwalia, Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi. It will submit its recommendations tomorrow. Those who attended the meeting said that it was more or less clear that the strategy would be to make Mr. Prasad the target of the protest inside Parliament in a manner similar to the Congress and the Left refusal to "recognise'' the former Defence Minister, George Fernandes, after he was reinducted into the Vajpayee Cabinet before the commission inquiring into the Tehelka affair concluded its work or cleared him. The former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who chaired the meeting said: "When we participate in Parliament we will be able to have a better effect... if all NDA constituents speak in one voice it will have a big impact... '' At the same time, it was made clear that the protest against the "tainted'' Ministers would continue in some form or another.
