CHENNAI, JULY 7. The Madras University Coordination Council has urged the Madras University Vice-Chancellor, S.P. Thyagarajan, to disaffiliate arts and science colleges that were admitting students over the sanctioned strength. The MUCC secretary, M. Subramaniam, in a release here said that the varsity imposed fines on several colleges for having indulged in the malpractice, last academic year. The Council urged the Vice-Chancellor to issue a `stern warning' and to disaffiliate courses of erring institutions.
