Chaos, agitation mark registration for yatra

By Our Staff Reporter

JAMMU, JULY 8. Even though 70,000 pilgrims have registered themselves for the Amarnath yatra in the last three days, chaos and agitation marked the first few days of registration. Pilgrims denied registration staged demonstrations throwing traffic in the city out of gear.

Some of them claimed that they had been stationed here for more than 10 days. The pilgrims were told that the next registration opened on July 13 and this would delay their journey.

As the rush of pilgrims is increasing, authorities are finding it hard to accommodate them. Thousands are staying under flyovers or even in the shade on the roads. The fact that a large number of them are staying in the open has clearly belied the claims of the authorities that this time there would not be any shortage of accommodation.
