Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Economic Survey 2003-04 is a reflection of the sound economic policies followed by the NDA Government. It is now for the UPA Government not to fritter away the strong foundation laid, and the gains made.
H.V. Hande,
Sir, The survey barely mentions food security. Utsa Patnaik, Professor of Economics, has pointed out that in five years of NDA rule, food intake plummeted to the point where it is now as low as it was in the 1940s. This should be treated as a national emergency. The five priorities in the survey are concerned with macroeconomic indicators that may have no relationship with actual poverty.
