A quiet birthday for YSR
In keeping with his earlier resolve to avoid any ostentation on his birthday, Dr. Reddy did not receive any visitors. He even declined to receive flowers from party MLAs or to give audience to Bishop B.P. Sugandhar and two other Bishops who came to bless him. The Governor, S.S. Barnala, sent to a telegram to him conveying his greetings. In the Assembly, the Speaker, K. R. Suresh Reddy, wished the Chief Minister a happy birthday on behalf of the House. TDP members struck a sour note by remarking that Dr. Reddy had given himself a birthday gift in the form of passage of the resolution on reviving the Legislative Council. After the Assembly adjourned, Dr. Reddy left for an undisclosed resort on the city outskirts to spend with his family members.
