`Encourage students to join course in Gandhian Thought'

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JULY 8. The Gandhi Peace Foundation, Madras, has appealed to the heads of educational institutions in different parts of the country to encourage their students to join two certificate courses on Gandhian Thought and peace education launched by it recently.

The foundation secretary, S. Kulandaisamy, in a statement here today, said the course was aimed at reaching out to a large section of youth.

The certificate course on Gandhian Thought for students of VI, VII and VIII standards and the one on peace education for students of IX, X, XI and XII standards were self-study courses, focussing on topics untouched and unshared in school or home, he said.

The first 10 schools that enroll the maximum number of students would be awarded each with a gift of books worth Rs.1,000 on Gandhian Thought and peace. The last date for receipt of fee from candidates is July 15, he said.
