HYDERABAD, JULY 8. The Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, on Thursday renewed the Government's appeal to naxalites of the People's War asking them to come to the negotiating table in the interests of the public peace and order in the State. He told presspersons in the Assembly lobbies that the Government had done everything to create a conducive atmosphere. He said the meeting convened by naxalites at a village in Mahbubnagar district last evening was likely to jeopardise the talks. Mr. Jana Reddy said the People's War leadership was yet to reply to his letter sent two days ago. "I am optimistic and expect them to write back in a day or two. We shall wait and see," he said declining to reveal to the media the contents of his letter. When presspersons persisted, he only said that he had written the modalities of how both parties concerned, representatives of the State Government and the People's War should conduct themselves for fruitful talks. Based on the People's War reply, a committee would be formed to monitor the entire proceedings of the peace process. He repeatedly said that it was not right on the part of naxalites to continue to go around villages with weapons.
