CHAMARAJANAGAR, JULY 8. The Regional Director of the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad, Brig. (retd.) G.B. Reddy, has said that the benefits of technology should reach rural areas. Delivering a lecture on "Transfer of technology to rural areas'' organised by the District Industries Centre, Chamarajanagar, in association with the Small Industries Service Institute, Bangalore, at the taluk panchayat hall here today, he said small-scale industries in rural areas were lagging behind for want of technology. As part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Small Industries Service Institute (SISI), the institute recently conducted a motivation programme, entrepreneurial development programme, and a management programme for the benefit of entrepreneurs in the district. The manager of Small Industries Development Bank of India, Bangalore, Ravindra Pai, delivered a lecture on credit-linked capital subsidy scheme to upgrade technology. The Director of SISI, C.R. Badrinath, delivered a lecture on "Intellectual Property Rights". The Chief Executive Officer of the Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat, Shivanna, distributed entrepreneurship certificates to 28 people who participated in the motivation programme. Owners of successful small-scale industries in the district were felicitated. Raghupathi of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Joint Director of the District Industries Centre, Suresh, and local entrepreneurs were present.
