CHENNAI, JULY 8. The Chengai East police, on Wednesday, rescued a businessman who was kidnapped by four persons from Senneerkuppam near Poonamallee on Tuesday night. Two persons have been arrested in this connection. A press note said that Rajendran and Paulraj, partners of a warehouse godown, were assaulted by four men and held forcibly in an undisclosed location. Rajendran was released later and was asked to pay a ransom of Rs. 5 lakhs for Paulraj. Rajendran, who was asked to hand over the cash to the captors at his warehouse last night, lodged a complaint with the Poonamallee police station. Police surrounded the warehouse and nabbed two of the captors when they came to collect the money. However, two others, Aruppu Kumar and Sathish escaped.
