Copters rescue 400 children in Assam
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
JULY 9.
Air Force helicopters have rescued 400 school children stranded on the rooftop of a school in Assam's Kamrup district. They were stranded due to floods in the Bramhaputra and the choppers from bases at Mohanbari and Guwahati responded to requests by the civil administration.
Despite inclement weather hampering the operations, the children were shifted to a safer place. The helicopters are also in a state of readiness to rescue the flood-affected people in other places of Assam such as Lalbari and Tamalpur. The IAF is also engaged in rescue and relief operations in Uttaranchal's Badrinath town where massive landslips have been reported.
