By Luv Puri

JAMMU, JULY 9. The reaction to the special package to Jammu and Kashmir announced by the Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaran, while presenting the Union Budget for 2004-05 on Thursday, has been mixed.

The Law, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Muzaffar Hussien Baig, said: "There is nothing new because it was the previous National Democratic Alliance Government that had approved this allocation"

The Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, Mangat Ram Sharma, welcomed the budget and said that what the Congress had promised in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) was reflected in the budget.
