Sir, This refers to N. Gopal Raj's article `Universities and scientific research' (July 8). Having Nobel laureates should not be a criterion for ranking a university. Our universities are by and large better than most western ones in terms of the curriculum offered and encapsulation of various branches of advanced studies under one roof. The top four universities mentioned in the report have more Indians and Chinese in terms of faculty members and students.
