TIRUNELVELI,
JULY 9.
One of the five golden kalasams atop the Durgai Amman temple at Seevalaperi, near here, was stolen last night.
According to the police, the culprits, after scaling the outer wall, gained entry into the temple. Though the kalasams had been firmly installed, they removed one of them. The priest this morning found that one kalasam was missing.
As news of the theft spread, people, including from neighbouring villages, gathered in front of the temple.
Fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs were pressed into service.
