HYDERABAD, JULY 9. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has said that his Government was committed to the implementation of G.O. 610 which relates to posting of `locals' in Telangana region, and said that all `hurdles' in its way will be removed. Dr. Reddy, who was speaking at a meeting of the Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers' (TNGO) Central Union here today, asked the Chief Secretary, Mohan Kanda, who was also present at the function, to take necessary steps to implement G.O. 610 and the 6-point formula to safeguard the interests of Telangana. The Chief Minister's comments assume significance in light of the recent statements of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president and Union Minister, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, that G.O. 610 had become irrelevant since separate statehood for Telangana was imminent. Interestingly, in a late evening statement, the TRS welcomed the Chief Minister's announcement. Dr. Reddy reminded the Government employees that before the elections he had promised them that the Congress Government would constitute the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) if it came to power. That promise had been kept and he further assured them that the Government would not drag its feet on its implementation. The Chief Minister was reacting to the demands for an interim 20 per cent `relief' before the PRC recommendations were announced. Dr. Reddy said that the present Government was alive to the problems faced by the Telangana NGOs, and assured them that he would discuss all their demands with their union leaders. He promised them that he would persuade banks to provide housing loans to NGOs at low interest rates. He told the gathering that they should not forget that they were public servants and that they should do their utmost so that Government policies and decisions reach the people. He said that the development of Telangana was in their hands. Earlier, Mr. Kanda said that Government employees were the tools for implementing Government policies and called on the political establishment to give equal treatment to people of all regions. The TNGO president, A. Krishna Reddy, and the general secretary, D. Sudhakar, spoke about the problems faced by the NGOs in Telangana and presented their main demands to the Chief Minister. It was in response to Mr. Krishna Reddy's demand that the Chief Minister promised implementation of G.O. No.610.
