CHANDIGARH, JULY 9. The Member of Parliament from Rohtak, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, today hit out at the Haryana Chief Minister, Om Parkash Chautala, for his remarks against the "august'' office of Governor. In a statement here, Mr. Hooda urged Mr. Chautala to desist from indulging in "loose talk'' and stop dreaming that he would abolish the post of Governor on becoming Prime Minister. He said the Chief Minister seemed to have forgotten that a Governor was appointed by the Central Government to "maintain balance between the State and the Centre and to ensure that no Chief Minister "behaved like a dictator''. He alleged that it was obvious from the recent conduct of the Chautala regime that it did not believe in democratic values. He also ridiculed the statement of the Chief Minister in which he had refused to demand any "economic package'' from the UPA regime. He said that the Chief Minister should shun an "egoistic approach'' and keep the interests of the State uppermost. He recalled that Mr.Chautala had refused to accept an "economic package'' for the drought-hit farmers because of his "ego clash'' with the then Union Agriculture Minister, Ajit Singh.
