Jayaprada wants `recognition' for film industry

TIRUMALA, JULY 9. Noted cinema artiste and Samajwadi Party MP, Jayaprada, on Friday said the celluloid field must be recognised as an industry. Talking to mediapersons, Ms. Jayapradha said though the cinema industry provided employment to lakhs of people, it was yet to be given the status of an industry.

She said the Government must come up with a pension scheme for aged artists, which would not only imbibe the confidence among artists, but also boost their sense of security. She said a group of noted producers and distributors must be formed to represent the grievances of the film industry to the State Government.
