FARIDKOT, JULY 9. A Fast Track Court here has sentenced to death a migrant labourer Ram Sewak hailing from Pakaria village in Farukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh for killing seven members of a family in Burj Sidhwan village near Malout in Muktsar district on the intervening night of May 24- 25 in 2001. According to the FIR and police investigations, the accused Ram Sewak had administered food spiked with sedatives to make the victims unconscious and later killed them with sharp-edged weapons. Those who were killed included Nathu Ram, his wife Yamuna, son Rajkumar, daughter Rekha, granddaughter Kanta and grandsons Lakhi and Mannu who were staying at the tubewell of a farmer Gurinder Pal Singh, who lodged a report with the police. Initially police considered the killings as blind murders. Investigation, however, revealed that Ram Sewak was responsible for the same. Police also recovered property stolen by the accused. The court of Hardyal Singh yesterday held that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing its case against the accused <243>and held him responsible for the <243>killings. -- PTI
