Temperature

MADURAI JULY 9. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 35.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.6 degrees Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam today stood at 122.4 feet with a storage of 3103 mcft. The inflow was 289 cusecs and the discharge 1438 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 45.67 feet with an inflow of 789 cusecs and a discharge of 930 cusecs.

The Sathaiyar dam received a maximum rainfall of 16 mm followed by Andipatti - 10 and Periyar dam, Tekkadi, Shanmuganadi and Manjalar dam - 2 mm each.

Fatal fall

A porter A. Shahul Hameed (25) of Thideer Nagar was run over by the Guruvayur-Chennai Express here today. The police said he fell under the wheels when he tried to get down from the moving train. He died on the spot.
