HYDERABAD, JULY 10. Vijaya Bank has launched `Hyderabad Card', a city specific credit card offering special discounts for purchases in the city, but valid internationally like any other credit card. The Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Dasari Narayana Rao, launched the card at a function here on Saturday. This is the second centre, after Bangalore, where the bank has launched its city specific cards. Similar city specific cards would be launched soon in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, according to M.S. Kapur, Chairman and Managing Director, Vijaya Bank. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the services rendered by Vijaya Bank, particularly in Hyderabad. N. Rangachary, advisor to State Government and former Chairman of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA), also complimented the bank for its financial performance showing less than one per cent non-performing assets and 100 per cent growth in profit. Uttam Naik, Deputy Country Manager, VISA International, explained the features of the card and said it can be used at 2,000 terminals and 300 ATMs in Hyderabad, and was valid at 30 million merchants and nine-lakh ATMs around the world. Kiran Kumar, General Manager, Vijaya Bank, said the first city specific card was launched in Bangalore. Later, Mr. Kapur presented the first `Hyderabad Card' to Mr. Dasari Narayana Rao, and the second to Mr. Rangachari.
