RTC nominee in Legislative Council sought
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
JULY 11.
The APSRTC Transport Mazdoor Sangh has sought representation in the proposed Legislative Council to at least one nominee of the corporation in view of it being the biggest fleet owner, with 19,000 vehicles, 1.2-lakh work force and transporting about 1.2-crore commuters a day.
M. Nageswara Rao, general secretary, in a statement here on Sunday said representation in the council would help "espouse" the cause of workers and help promote the interest of the transport industry.
Regularisation
The APSRTC Staff and Workers' Federation has sought regularisation of RTC casual workmen who have been employed for the last seven years. A State convention of the federation, which was attended by about 500 representatives from all districts, held here pressed the demand.
