Farmer ends life

KHAMMAM, JULY 11. A farmer committed suicide in his farm in Rangapuram village of Thallada mandal on Sunday. Seelam Venkata Narsi Reddy, 42, reportedly consumed pesticide and ended his life. The suicide was attributed to crop loss and failure to repay loan, borrowed from private moneylenders in the village.

The farmer who raised chilli crop in five acres of land, invested heavily on pest control measures and fertilizers, but the crop yield was less than ten bags. He resorted to the drastic step unable to repay the debt. The body was sent for post mortem.
