Mahima Patel keen on Bhadra project

By Our Staff Correspondent

DAVANGERE, JULY 11. Mahima Patel, Channagiri MLA and son of former Chief Minister, J.H. Patel, has said that he would urge the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, and Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, to set up the Bhadra Niravari Nigam (Bhadra Irrigation Authority) and sanction money for the project. He was speaking at a function organised to felicitate him here on Saturday.

He said he had discussed the issue with a few MLAs elected from Bhadra Achcut and surrounding areas. Mr. Patel said that a blue print for the comprehensive development of the area had been prepared long ago and the cost of the project was estimated at Rs. 450 crore.

Mr. Patel said he had appealed to his party superiors to grant him ministerial berth but denied reports of lobbying. He said he did not favour the formation of the coalition Government with the Congress, but it had become inevitable.
