A pleasant day ahead

NEW DELHI JULY 11.JULY 11.JULY Delhi is likely to experience another pleasant day on Monday with the weatherman forecasting a generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunder showers in some areas.

The maximum and minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Sunday was 39.1 and 30.1 degree Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 39.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 30.6 degrees Celsius. The rainfall recorded at Safdarjang was trace with the maximum and minimum humidity being 59 per cent and 42 per cent respectively, while at Palam there was no rain and the maximum and minimum humidity was 53 per cent and 40 per cent respectively.

Impersonators arrested

NEW DELHI JULY 11.JULY 11.JULY Three young men, including a first year student of Lucknow's King George's Medical College (KGMC), were arrested by the North-West Delhi for allegedly impersonating for candidates who were supposed to appear in the entrance examination for Vardhaman Medical College which is attached to Safdarjung Hospital here.

According to the police, a Combined Entrance Test for the course of MBBS in Vardhaman Medical College was being conducted at various centres in the Capital. One such centre was at C.R.P. School, Sector-14, Rohini. One of the invigilators there became suspicious about the identities of two young men writing the test. They were stopped from writing the examination and were handed over to the police for questioning.

One of them was identified as Gaurav, a resident of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. He was impersonating for one Ashish Ratra, a resident of Muzffarnagar in U.P. Gaurav, a first year student at KGMC, told the police that Ashish's father had managed to contact him with the help of his acquaintances and offered him Rs. 50,000 for writing the examination in place of his son.

The other aspirant, identified as Ved Prakash, a resident of Biharsharif in Bihar, was found to be taking the test in the name of one Santosh. When the police questioned him, Ved revealed that Santosh, a resident of Begusarai in Bihar, too was present at the same examination centre. Following the revelation, Santosh too was arrested.

Santosh told the police that he had filled up two forms, both in his name, but affixed Ved's photograph on one of them. A case of impersonation has been registered at Prashant Vihar police station and further investigations in the case are on.

Seized

NEW DELHI JULY 11.JULY 11.JULY Two persons have been arrested by the East Delhi police for allegedly possessing fake currency notes.

According to the police, Kasim, a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, and Raj Kumar, a resident of Uttam Nagar in West Delhi, were arrested from Vivek Vihar in East Delhi on Saturday. They were found to be in possession of 294 fake currency notes, all in the denomination of Rs. 100. Mobile medicare

NEW DELHI JULY 11.JULY 11.JULY The North Delhi police have joined hands with a non-government organisation to provide free medical care at the doorsteps of the senior citizens.

According to a North Delhi police spokesperson, the North Delhi police, in association with NGO, "The Help Foundation", have launched the programme "Alok" under which senior citizens would be provided mobile medical facilities.
