Power meters stolen

Four persons, claiming to be Electricity Department employees, took away seven electricity metres from Sai Krishna Hostel for Boys and Girls, Boggulakunta. The hostel warden, B. Srinivas, lodged a complaint with the Narayanaguda police nine days after the incident. He said, he learnt about the fraud when electricity authorities told him none of the department people inspected the building or seized any metres.

Auto driver assaulted

Three unidentified persons attacked an auto-rickshaw driver at King Kothi and snatched away cash of Rs. 10,000 from him early on Saturday. A resident of Basheerbagh, the victim was waiting to pick up passengers when the motorcycle-borne trio assaulted him, the Abids police said.

Chains snatched

Two motorbike-borne assailants snatched two gold chains from a housewife, Chennamma, when she was buying milk at a shop in Langerhouse on Saturday night. The two came from behind, pulled the two chains weighing six tolas and sped away, the Langerhouse police said.

House burgled

Thieves broke into the house of an attender of the Income Tax Department, Shankar Singh, at Puranapool and took away property worth Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 1,500 in cash on Saturday. On return from office, the victim found the doors broken and the property missing, the Mangalhat police said.

Gold stolen

Unidentified persons took away 18 tolas of gold and Rs. 3,000 in cash from the house of a doctor, Narender Reddy, at Road No. 86 of Filmnagar in Jubilee Hills. Mr. Reddy recently went to Nirmal. His watchman called him up on Saturday stating that the backdoors were found broke open and the property stolen, the Banjara Hills police said.

Laptop taken away

A laptop computer and a DVD player were stolen from the house of a businessman, V. Ramnath at Road No. 14 of Banjara Hills on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The thieves entered the house by removing the window grills. They also stole Rs. 10,000 in cash, the Banjara Hills police said.
