HYDERABAD, JULY 11 . The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Minority Educational Institutions (FAPMEI) has asked the Government to permit minority educational institutions to take simultaneous admissions even as the Convenor, CET, handled the admission process in other colleges. A FAPMEI delegation has presented a memorandum to the Minister for Minorities Welfare, Mohd. Fareeduddin. In a statement, Zafar Javeed, General Secretary, FAPMEI, said in the present practice, the CET Convenor completed the admissions to MBA, MCA, MSc and other courses in which common entrance tests were held. Minority institutions were allowed to begin admissions only after this. This was an "unfair practice" since the minority institutions were left with students with poor ranks, the memo said. The memo said the Government must take corrective measures and instruct all universities in the State to allow minority institutions to begin the admission process simultaneously with the CET Convenor, as was the case in engineering and pharmacy courses as per GO 34. This would also reduce the time taken for completing the process, Mr. Javeed said. He said the minority institutions must be allowed to fix their own admission schedules. The Universities, however, may stipulate the cut-off date for minority institutions to complete the process, he said.
