HYDERABAD, JULY 11. The Students' Federation of India (SFI) has threatened to launch an agitation if the Government failed to withdraw G.O. Nos. 184 and 185 that allow private medical colleges to fill the management quota seats setting aside the pre-requisite EAMCET pass to admit students in engineering and medical courses. At a press conference here, T. Sagar, national executive committee member of SFI and U.A. Narayana, state vice-president argued that the GOs were in violation of the Supreme Court judgment on admissions to professional colleges. "The Supreme Court judgment clearly states that admissions have to be done based on some entrance test and not on mere qualifying examination", they said. "The Government is clearly violating the directions of the Supreme Court," they maintained. Mr. Sagar said genuine candidates would suffer as private medical colleges would `sell' the seats according to their wish. The SFI would launch statewide agitation on Tuesday and if there was no response from the Government, it would not hesitate to disturb medical counselling commencing on July 17. Mr. Sagar also asked the Government to release scholarship grant immediately.
