Hard-fought win for APSRTC
HYDERABAD,
JULY 12.
APSRTC recorded a hard-fought 3-2 win over Royal Club in the inaugural match of the senior State hockey championship at the Begumpet Police Stadium here on Monday.
Royal led 2-1 at the break thanks to a brace by centre-forward Vishnuvardhan in the 12th and 15th minutes of the first-half. For Busmen, outside-right K. Arunesh was on target in the second minute.
But, it was RTC's show all the way in the second session and centre-forward Guruswamy struck twice in the 45th and 51st minutes to seal the fate of the rival. In another match, Income Tax Recreation Club outplayed Youth League 6-0 after leading 3-0 at the break.
Right-out M.A. Sekhar Babu struck thrice in the fifth, 48th and 55th minutes while, centre-half Shyam Kumar, inside-right V. Elia and inside-left B.G.S. Krishna got in the scoring act once each to complete the tally for the winner.
