Patnaik for unconditional talks with naxalites

By Our Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR, JULY 12. The Orissa Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, today reiterated that his Government was not averse to holding talks with the naxalite outfits which were active in different parts of the State.

Answering a question in the State Assembly, Mr. Patnaik said that his Government was keen to end the problem and restore peace.

He added that the naxalites should not put forward any pre-conditions for talks.

A few weeks ago, the People's War had expressed its willingness to hold talks with the State Government, but with pre-conditions which included the withdrawal of para-military forces deployed in the naxalite-infested districts.
