HYDERABAD, JULY 12. The Government has enhanced age limit by four years for Group I Services with a specific reference to the advertisement issued by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission dated November 21, 2003. The Minister for Revenue, D. Prasada Rao, told the Assembly during question time on Monday that the age concession was given in view of the fact that there was a "long gap" in issuing the notification for recruitment. He rejected the plea of M. A. Gafoor, CPI (M), who wanted the similar age concession in case of DSC and Excise recruitments. The Minister for Agriculture, N. Raghuveera Reddy, told the House that Government would shortly spell out micro-irrigation policy specifying whether 90 per cent subsidy would be allowed on drip irrigation schemes. The Minister for Minor Irrigation, A. Chandrasekhar, disagreed with L. Raja Rao ( BSP) that the Government was neglecting irrigation facilities in tribal areas. He stated that that 246 works covering 5,600 acres were taken up for this year at an outlay of Rs 400 crores. Under this minor irrigation schemes, check-dams and percolation tanks were being taken up in eight agency areas.
Bamboo cutting
The Forest Minister, S. Vijayarama Raju, told E. Pratap Reddy (Cong) that they would allow bamboo cutting in Atmakur area in Kurnool district which would benefit tribals. Clearance from the Union Government was awaited.
