NEW DELHI, JULY 12. Senior officials in the India Meteorological Department today said that conditions were gradually becoming favourable for the revival of the monsoon in a significant manner thus breaking the dry conditions that is prevailing over most parts of the country for the past 10 days.

Speaking to The Hindu, they said there were very positive signals that the much awaited low pressure area could form over the Bay of Bengal by tomorrow leading to the revival of the monsoon first over central India, and then over north India. In Delhi specifically, rainfall activity is likely to begin by July 15. This season, the city has so far received monsoon-related rains for only one-day.

Meanwhile, there has been good rains over the peninsular area comprising of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka over the past two days and a gradual reduction in the intensity of rains in the north-east, which had been faced with the problem of flooding because of the incessant rains.
