CHENNAI, JULY 12. The Chengai East Police have arrested seven persons in Poonamallee on charges of kidnapping for ransom last week. They are looking for the alleged kingpin. A police press release said the group of seven kidnapped Rajendran and Paulraj early last week and had released the former to arrange for the ransom. Rajendran lodged a complaint with the Poonamallee police, following which a special team cracked down on the group hiding in a warehouse. The police seized a van and an autorickshaw, apparently used by the group, and a motorcycle belonging to the kidnapped persons.
