Seven held for kidnapping

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, JULY 12. The Chengai East Police have arrested seven persons in Poonamallee on charges of kidnapping for ransom last week.

They are looking for the alleged kingpin.

A police press release said the group of seven kidnapped Rajendran and Paulraj early last week and had released the former to arrange for the ransom.

Rajendran lodged a complaint with the Poonamallee police, following which a special team cracked down on the group hiding in a warehouse. The police seized a van and an autorickshaw, apparently used by the group, and a motorcycle belonging to the kidnapped persons.
