HYDERABAD, JULY 13 . The Minister for School Education, N. Rajyalakshmi, has ruled out the transfer of teachers for the present, as the issue is pending before the Supreme Court. Responding to N. Narsimhaiah of Communist Party of India (Marxixt) in the Assembly today, she said the Government wanted to undertake the transfer exercise in time for it to benefit the teaching community, and had, accordingly, formulated combined service rules for Government and panchayat raj teachers. The new rules had been notified through Government Order no. 538, based on two earlier Gos, nos. 278 and 78, she said. The High Court, however, had struck down the GO, she said, and the issue had been taken to the Supreme Court. The verdict was expected shortly, she said, and added that there would be local cadre for both Government and Panchayat Raj teachers.
