HYDERABAD, JULY 13. A new information helpline -- number 1250211 --for queries concerning Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) was activated by the BSNL Chief General Manager, Sanjaya Kumar, on Tuesday in the presence of the Principal General Manager, Hyderabad Telecom District, C. Govardhan. The Interactive Voice Response System is active round the clock. Those interested in manual assistance should dial 8 between 9.30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on all working days. The helpline became a reality after the information dissemination activity was outsourced to VoiceGate Technologies. Mr. Sanjaya Kumar termed it the opening of `yet another window for information' which was now being made available to public, in addition to the BSNL-operated `Swagatham' helpline which can be accessed with the number `1500.' Service to `1250211' is available at standard pulse rates for callers from Hyderabad. Callers from elsewhere in the country and abroad too could access it and they would be billed according to the calling rates at that point of time. He said `Swagatham' was currently available only for residents of Hyderabad, but added the service would be extended to other part of the State very soon. The Managing Director of VoiceGate Technologies, Syed Mohammed, said the company also provided other info services like `Rashtravaani', which can be accessed at `1250200', the cricket update service at `1255221', an academic results announcement service at `1255225' and a passport information service at `1250244'.
