Medical shop needed

Medical shop needed

Sir — The Tiruchi railway junction is getting a facelift and a food plaza is being constructed. A medical shop should be set up, as the junction is busy at night.

Similarly, basic amenities such as chairs and fans should be provided in the middle of the fourth platform, where the trains bound for the southern districts halt.

C. Ramalingam,

Tiruchi.

Train service

Sir, — From July 1, the Tambaram-Rameswaram Express is being diverted through Pattukottai and Arantangi.

As a result, passengers of Karaikudi, Pudukottai and Tiruchi are put to hardship. Students, teachers and other office-goers from Tiruchi find it difficult to reach their destinations in time. Besides, passengers of Karaikudi, Pudukottai and Chettinad will not have any train link to the Tiruchi-Ernakulam Express and the Thanjavur-Mysore Express. As a result, the railways also incurs a loss of revenue. Besides, there is no direct train from Thanjavur to Rameswaram.

Hence, I request the railways to introduce a link train from Karaikudi to Thanjavur to the timings of the train no. 6102 and 6101.

H. Ghouse Baig,

Tiruchi.

Rail link

Sir — The Tiruchi Town and Fort stations are less than two km apart; yet there is no rail link. If another rail line linking the Fort station near the Kudamurutti bridge with the Cauvery bridge near the Town station is established, it will help to reduce 10 km of travel to the junction. Earlier, this connectivity was not possible. But now, the railways should consider this proposal.

A.V. Narayanan,

Tiruchi.

Reopen level crossing

Sir, — The closure of the manned level crossing at Tennur, after the construction of the rail overbridge, causes hardship to pedestrians. The level crossing connects the eastern and western parts of the city. Three schools and the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board office are also located beside it. I request the railways to reopen the level crossing.

S.S. Azizulla,

Tiruchi.

Traffic congestion

Sir, — Since Palakkarai Main Road was closed for the construction of a road overbridge, traffic on Madurai Road between the Prabath theatre and the Tennur bridge has become chaotic.

The Corporation should clear the soil from both sides to widen the road. Moreover, it should not allow illegal parking of heavy vehicles.

A.G. Nasar Basha,

Tiruchi.

Sand dust

Sir, — There is a lot of sand dust in the area around the water tank at the Chathiram bus stand. Buses fluff off the sand, causing hardship to the two-wheeler riders. Will the Corporation take action?

M. C. Meyyappan,

Tiruchi.

Garbage container

Sir, — A huge iron garbage container has been kept on Heber Road at Beema Nagar, and it is used for dumping waste meat and other garbage by nearby meat shops and marriage halls. It has become a breeding ground for flies and mosquitoes.

Will the Corporation shift the container to some other place?

S. Rashidali,

Tiruchi.

High speed

Sir, — The Civil Supplies Department keeps paddy in an open godown at K.K. Nagar.

Hundreds of lorries transporting paddy to this godown ply at high speed. Of late, a few accidents, involving school students, have occurred. I request the authorities to curtail the speed of these lorries to 40 km an hour between Khajamalai and K. K. Nagar.

Nabin,

Tiruchi.

Tiruchi.
