Cloudy sky predicted
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Tuesday were 38.8 and 30.0 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 39.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 30.9 degrees Celsius. At Safdarjung, the maximum and minimum humidity recorded was 68 per cent and 35 per cent respectively. Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 52 per cent, while the minimum humidity was 35 per cent.
Two hurt
in scuffle
According to the police, two young men, Amit Chowdhary and Upender Sharma, beat up two men, Pramod and Pankaj, in main office complex of the Delhi University in the evening. The two sustained injuries on their head. The police said the reason behind the fight was yet to be ascertained.
Held for robbing passenger
The accused have been identified as Vinod, Rakesh and Tabrej. During interrogation, they disclosed that they had stolen the belongings of one Chander Bhan Sharma on Monday. Two of the accused hired a rickshaw outside Old Delhi railway station and offered Chander a lift till New Delhi railway station from where he was supposed to board a train to Chandigarh. On the way, they asked the rickshaw driver to stop near Kauriya Bridge on the pretext of buying mineral water and biscuits. Soon after having the biscuits offered by them, Chander became unconscious and the accused fled with his belongings. When Chander regained consciousness, he found himself in the hospital.
Sex racket busted
According to the police, a tip-off was received about a woman, living in Noida, and running a racket from a flat in Khirki Extension, Malviya Nagar, with the help of a pimp, Subhash. A decoy called up the pimp on Monday and fixed a deal for Rs. 5,000 per woman. He was asked to reach the flat and pay Rs. 2,000 in advance. Accordingly, a police team laid a trap and arrested three girls and the pimp from the flat after the decoy paid the advance. The girls - all aged around 20 - were from Patna, Aligarh and Kolkata. During interrogation, the accused told the police that a woman, living in Noida, was running the racket. She had rented the flat for the purpose and used to operate only on mobile phone. Subhash used to live with the girls.
Arrested with illicit liquor
The accused was identified as Moti Lal, a resident of Rani Garden. The police said he was arrested while he was going to deliver the liquor consignment near Subzi Mandi mortuary.
