Another stage win for McEwen

GUERET, JULY 14. Robbie McEwen of Australia won the ninth stage of the Tour de France on Tuesday. The stage win was McEwen's second of this Tour.

Spain's Inigo Landaluze and Italian Filippo Simeoni broke away from the pack just 38 km from the start and built up a large lead during the race but got swallowed up by the chasing pack just a few hundred metres from the finish. McEwen put on an explosive burst of speed to get his wheel over the lineFrenchman Thomas Voeckler retained the overall lead. — AP
