Rs. 20-crore flyover for Erode soon

ERODE, JULY 14. A flyover to ease the increasing traffic in Erode would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 crores. The work in this connection would commence soon.

Speaking at an advisory committee meeting held on Tuesday, the Erode MLA, K.S. Thennarasu, said the flyover would be constructed on the Government Headquarters Hospital five road junction.

The meeting also decided to set up an electric crematorium in the district.

The setting up of the crematorium would be jointly taken up by the Erode Central Rotary Club, Lotus Hospital and the Erode Municipality at a cost of Rs. One crore.

t would come up on the banks of River Cauvery. A site has been identified and private lands would also be purchased to construct the crematorium.

A committee has been constituted in this connection.

A member of the panel, the Managing Director of Lotus Hospitals, E. R. Sahadevan, said the Erode Central Rotary Club has sanctioned Rs. 30 lakhs for the project.

He also sought financial assistance from the public to set up the crematorium.

The chairman of the SKM Group of Companies, S.K.M. Maeilaandhen, wanted the MPs and MLAs to grant the necessary assistance from the Development funds.

The Chairman of the Erode Municipality, M. Subramanian, said that steps would be taken to develop the present burial and burning ghat in Erode.

The Correspondent of the Bharathy Vidya Bhavan, L.M. Ramakrishnan and others spoke.
