Kuala Lumpur: The jailed former Malaysian deputy leader, Anwar Ibrahim, was rushed to a hospital after developing possible kidney and bladder ailments, his associates said on Wednesday. Mr. Anwar's worsening health is linked to neurological complications stemming from a back injury. He wants to go to Germany for medical treatment, but the Malaysian Government refuses to let him travel abroad, said Mr. Anwar's lawyer Sankara Nair. Mr. Anwar was rushed from his prison on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur to the city's main government-run hospital just before Tuesday midnight, he said. ``It seems he has lost all feeling in his left leg,'' said family friend Raja Petra Kamarudin. Mr. Anwar is serving prison terms totalling 15 years after being convicted of corruption and sodomy charges which he alleges were fabricated to crush anti-government protests and a leadership challenge he mounted against former Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad.
