HOSPET (BELLARY DT.), JULY 14. The teaching and non-teaching staff of T.M.A.E. Society's Polytechnic on Wednesday launched an indefinite relay hunger strike in front of the Tahsildar's office demanding the release of their salary. The employees took out a procession and submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner. The same will also be forwarded to the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh. The staff alleged that they had not been paid for the past 10 months. Y.M. Umashankar, on behalf of the staff, said that the Government had approved grant in-aid to 27 Polytechnics in the State that had completed 15 years in 2001 and had implemented it in phases. The benefit was announced to Hospet Polytechnic 11 months ago and the staff were given the benefit for the first month alone, he said.
