BELGAUM, JULY 14. Hundreds of students from different colleges led by those of Lingraj College staged a rasta roko on College Road for some time here on Wednesday protesting against what they described as rash driving by Army personnel. The students marched to the office of the Deputy Commissioner and shouted slogans. They said that in the past six months, three students had been killed in accidents caused by rash driving by Army personnel. The latest was the death of Praveen Desai of Lingraj College. An army vehicle ran over him on Tuesday evening, killing him on the spot, they said. The students urged the Deputy Commissioner to impose restrictions on the drivers of army vehicles and take action against those responsible for the accidents.
