Belgaum
By Our Staff Correspondent
BELGAUM, JULY 14. Employees of aided polytechnics here launched an indefinite dharna on Wednesday in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner demanding that their salary dues be released immediately. The protesters included the teaching and non-teaching staff of Gomatesh Vidhyapeet Polytechnic and Bharatesh Polytechnic and members of the Maratha Mandal. A delegation comprising members of all the 27 aided polytechnics in the State had recently met the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, who holds the Finance portfolio, and presented a memorandum seeking budgetary allocation to release the salaries. However, it is said that Mr. Siddaramaiah refused to make a commitment, following which the employees of the polytechnics launched the dharna.
