PERIAKULAM, JULY 14. Tension prevailed at Periakulam for an hour this evening when two gangs attacked each other owing to enmity. According to sources, Pandiyaraj and Kanagaraj of Mundrandhal here attacked each other at a teashop near their house. Supporters of Kanagaraj entered the street of Pandiaraj's residence and threw stones. Five persons were injured. The situation turned worse when the rival gang retaliated. A group attending the Sri Muthalamman Temple festival chased the attackers. The SP, A. Amal Raj, brought the situation under control.
