KOZHIKODE, JULY 14. A CPI(M) activist was killed and two others were seriously injured in a blast that occurred while they were allegedly engaged in making bomb at an Anganwadi at Ambalakulangara in Kakkattil here this evening. The deceased has been identified as K. Rajeev (24). He succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (MCH). The two injured, Likesh (25) and K.M.Dinesh (23), have been admitted to the MCH. All of them are CPI (M) workers, according to the police. The three were rushed to the Kuttiyadi hospital soon after the blast. The blast occurred near the house of K.P. Raveendran, a CPI(M) worker who was killed in a clash that broke out between CPI(M) and BJP workers at the Kannur Central Jail in April. The police said the CPI(M) had been active in the area ever since Raveendran was killed. Raveendran was an accused in the murder of the RSS worker Kumaran at Ambalakulangara a few years ago. On May 27, a stationery shop belonging to a CPI(M) sympathiser was damaged in a bomb explosion at Cheeyuril, 3 km from Nadapuram.
