Thanjavur July 14. A new football ground is established at Parisutham Nagar here by the municipality. According to Sintha Mathar, Municipal Commissioner (in-charge), the ground was set up on 1,38,500 sq.ft and would be named as Kittu Memorial Football Ground. Compound walls had been raised around the ground. Water sports facilities completed at a cost of nearly Rs. 35 lakhs at Sivaganga Park would be inaugurated soon, the Commissioner said. He said that a drive had been launched to distribute birth certificates in a week and 2000 certificates had already been distributed. There had been no pending applications. Seran, Municipal Health Officer, said that in the last few months 2000 dogs had been captured. Samples of water packets and mineral water bottles had been taken from various places in the town. The bottles and packets would be seized if they were found contaminated, Mr. Seran added.
