Krishna, Trupti get pride of place

KOCHI, JULY 14. S.D.S. Krishna (AP) and Trupti Murgunde (Kar) have been given the top billing in the men's and women's section respectively in the Servo fourth RSC `Play for Gold' South India open badminton tournament that starts at the Rajiv Gandhi indoor stadium here on Thursday.

Thomas Kurien (Petroleum Sports Promotion Board) and Rohan Castelino are seeded number two and three respectively in men's section. Fourth seeded K.A. Aneesh leads the Kerala challenge in the tournament.

In women's section, former National champion B.R. Meenakshi is seeded third behind Kerala's Fathima Nazneen Mohammed.

In men's doubles, V. iju and Sanave Thomas head the seedings followed by Markose Bristow and Jaseel P. Ismail.

The RSC president and Kochi City police commissioner, Mr. Dinendra Kashyap, will inaugurate the tournament.

The seedings: Men: 1. S.D.S. Krishna, 2. Thomas Kurien, 3. Rohan Castelino and 4. K.A.Aneesh (4). Women: 1. Trupti Murgunde, 2. Fathima Nazeen Mohammed and 3. B.R. Meenakshi.
