Chennai crushes Coimbatore

KARAIKUDI, JULY 14. Four goals by striker Venkatesh helped defending champion, Chennai, score an impressive 7-0 victory over Coimbatore and enter the semifinals of the Indane Amamu 46th Tamil Nadu State senior inter-district football championship near here on Wednesday.

R.P. Ashok Kumar, N. Ashok Kumar and Suresh Kumar scored once.

In another match, Tiruchi posted an 5-1 victory over Kanyakumari to enter the quarterfinals. Ajayan, Nandakumar, Niaz Ahmed, Renganathan and Ferdinand Dharman scored for the winner while Mohammed Faizal pulled one back for Kanyakumari.
