Good day for Globe Trotters

CHENNAI, JULY 14. Aashish Kapoor, Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan (both Globe Trotters), S. Lekshmikumar, and Pankaj Dharmani (both India Pistons) made centuries while Mambalam Mosquitos' S.R. Ganesh Kumar registered the lone five-wicket haul on day one of the third round in the SPIC-TNCA first division league here on Wednesday.

Globe Trotters had a good day at the MRF-Pachaiyappa's ground after winning the toss against SICAL.

Openers Aashish (100, 130b, 15x4, 1x6), playing his first match of the season, and Vidyut (103, 183b, 14x4, 1x6) added 188 in 45.2 overs.

At stumps, K. Shree Vasudeva Das was batting on 53 (91b, 7x4).

Centuries from opener Lekshmikumar (120, 225b, 13x4) and Dharmani (135, 227b, 17x4, 1x6, 1x5) and their 257-run partnership for the second wicket helped India Pistons, put in by Alwarpet, reach 289 for three at CPT-IP.

Mosquitos off-spinner Ganesh Kumar (five for 58) and paceman C. Ganapathy (four for 40) combined to bowl out holder Jolly Rovers, that had opted to bat, for 176 at the IIT-Chemplast ground.

Rovers was comfortably placed at 130 for two after opener Vikram Kumar (53, 152b, 4x4) and S. Badrinath (60, 111b, 3x4) had added 99 for the second wicket in 35 overs, but soon lost its way. Mosquitos was ten for two in reply.

Vijay left-arm paceman R. Naresh (four for 25) and off-spinner Rajesh Sharma (four for 27) were responsible for IOB being bowled out for 112 at the ICL-Guru Nanak ground.

Vijay, which had won the toss, was 101 for four in reply, IOB paceman S. Desappan picking up three for 23.

Indian Bank paceman R. Jesuraj claimed four for 59 as Parry's, inserted, made 187 for eight at MAC `A.' M.K. Sivakumar contributed 47 (170b, 6x4, 1x6).

IOB 112 in 49.4 overs (R. Naresh four for 25, Rajesh Sharma four for 27) vs Vijay 101 for four in 38 overs (S. Desappan three for 23), at ICL-Guru Nanak.

Jolly Rovers 176 in 79.1 overs (Vikram Kumar 53, S. Badrinath 60, C. Ganapathy four for 40, S.R. Ganesh Kumar five for 58) vs Mambalam Mosquitos 10 for two in eight overs, at IIT-Chemplast.

Parry's 187 for eight in 90 overs (M.K. Sivakumar 47, R. Jesuraj four for 59) vs Indian Bank, at MAC `A.'

State Bank 205 for six in 93 overs (V. Vijayasarathy 56 batting, V. Arun Kumar three for 48) vs SPIC, at SPIC-YMCA.
